About
McIntyre Communications Inc. is a small, woman-owned business with offices near Boulder, Colorado, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The principals have worked in writing, editing, graphic design, and publication project management for decades. In 1995, the sisters incorporated McIntyre Communications Inc. (McComm) to provide writing, editing, graphic design, and publication project management services focused on green building and renewable energy technologies.

McComm offers comprehensive publishing services for publications ranging from identity brochures to full-color glossy magazines. We also help organizations and businesses link environmental responsibility and success.
Maureen McIntyre is a writer, editor, and publication project manager based in Boulder, Colorado, who has been writing and speaking about the benefits and joys of green building and sustainable living for more than twenty-five years. A former green residential builder, Maureen developed and taught green homebuilding, contracting, and estimating courses, seminars, and workshops through the Colorado Owner Builder Center, a business she founded in the early 1980s.

A magazine editor and publisher for more than twenty years, she founded Home Resource  (later called Owner and Builder), a glossy national magazine for owner builders and builders interested in green building with two partners in 1984. She served as editor and co-publisher until the publication's sale in 1990. From 1990 until 2003, Maureen served as editor, and from 1999 until 2003 as editor and publisher, of SOLAR TODAY, a glossy national magazine published by the American Solar Energy Society.

Maureen's writing credits include feature articles in Green Builder Magazine, LBM Journal, Builder, Construction Specifier, and HOME. She has written and edited technical reports for clients ranging from the American Solar Energy Society to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to E Source, co-authored a book for Rodale Press, and wrote a column and features for a local newspaper. Until March 2008, Maureen was editor and publisher of the Boulder Green Building Journal, a full-color magazine published in print and electronic formats by the Boulder Green Building Foundation and circulated in and around Boulder, Colorado. She brings a unique blend of deep knowledge and extensive experience to every project.

Patty McIntyre is a project manager, marketing consultant, and graphic designer based near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Patty is responsible for the design of most of the American Solar Energy Society's annual solar conference, solar tour, and membership collateral pieces. She spent many years honing her design and management skills in venues as varied as resort hotels and high-tech companies. As the former marketing director for two high-tech companies, Patty brings a practical and creative sensibility to every project.

Cindy Richards is a graphic designer and publication project manager based in Phoenix, Arizona. She has been a graphic designer since 1996, and although she works in many areas of design, her passion for typography and the importance of the message has led her to focus on magazine design. She has worked with McIntyre Communications since 1998.

Cindy was art director of SOLAR TODAY, a national glossy magazine published by the American Solar Energy Society, for 5 years. Cindy was the art director of the Boulder Green Building Journal, a glossy magazine published in print and electronic format by the Boulder Green Building Foundation and circulated in and around Boulder, Colorado.
